I shared another web learning link earlier this week, but the Khan Academy is truly my favorite online learning website when I’m feeling a bit stagnant and want a refresher.
Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Finance are just a few of their options. Need study help for SAT Math? How about the GMAT? Interested in adding to your kid’s homeschool curriculumn? Or do you just want to play around with a couple of brainteasers? It’s all here in one great package.
A Lifetime of Learning. Not just for students anymore.

Continuing my sharing of links I love, here’s some info on LGBT aging, including the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging and their handy, Resources in Your Area link.
Stop by the SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) Website as well.
Here’s some info from their site:
Despite advances in LGBT civil rights, many older adult care providers never stop to consider that their older clients may be lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) – and even those who do may not know how to provide services in culturally-sensitive ways. As a result, LGBT older adults often avoid seeking needed services out of fear of discrimination. The tendency for LGBT older adults to go “back in the closet” is particularly pronounced in situations where they are most vulnerable – such as when accessing home health care or residing in assisted living or residential care facilities. One study indicated that LGBT older adults may be as much as five times less likely to access

Yes, I’m at risk of becoming a hoarder. Not of clutter around the house, but clutter in my Kindle. Or my Kindle for PC app, depending on where I send things. It all started when I discovered THIS link to the daily free Kindle books in the Kindle Users’ Forums. And then they sent me HERE
Both sites are easy to skim through, and there are links and descriptions to free Kindle books throughout the day. I can pick and choose without all the work. How many of them will I actually sit down and read? Dunno. But they’re BOOKS, and they’re FREE. Besides, I never know when I’m going to have some open time and be filled with the desire to make my own natural soap.
You see my problem?
Luckily, there are enough books on the list that I’m *not* interested in to keep me from totally overdosing.

Another amazing image from Cryselle made me jump up and squeal “I have an excerpt for that!”. Visit Cryselle’s Bookshelf for an excerpt from my short story The One That Counts.

Summary: When Rob Gentner’s father dies, his partner David sees an opportunity to shed some light on a past Rob rarely talks about. Standing in front of the family-owned Laundromat that was a major part of his upbringing, Rob finally shares the story of the summer of his first year of college, the beginning of his self-acceptance and life as a gay man. Finally David can understand the circumstances that made Rob the man he loves today—and they both decide that while first times will always be remembered, the last times are the ones that count.

Earlier this week I posted a link to a directory search in Southeastern Michigan. Today I’m pleased to update with a much broader searchable directory from the Gay & Lesbian Medical Association Website.

Lately I’ve been visiting several different sites that list Free (other than classic/out of copyright) Kindle Books available for that day or month, and I think I’ve found my new happy place.
Right now the winner is: http://www.ereaderiq.com/. Live outside the US? Don’t worry, just use the drop-down box to choose your region.
The site scores very high for ease of use, ability to see covers, read blurbs, sort via filter, and click thru to Amazon for easy downloading. And if your favorite book isn’t free just yet, you can set it up to be notified when the price drops.
Now, all I need to do is find the time to read.
