Welcome to another week and yet another Excerpt Thursday. Today’s snip will be from A Simple Life. This story has a very near and dear place in my heart. I first attempted to write it two years ago for a Valentine’s Day sub call. Feeling that I wasn’t doing the idea the justice it deserved, I set the story aside only to come back to it when it refused to leave me alone. In the end I wasn’t sure I brought out everything I imagined for the characters, but several readers’ responses gave hope I came close.

The summary also gave me a bit of trouble as it was difficult to decide what to say and what to leave out. Now a few years down the road I might have prepared a different summary, but that’s merely the joy of hindsight.
Summary: Frank wasn’t sure what to think when Clark gave him a present in a little white box. It wasn’t his birthday; it wasn’t their anniversary. But what he finds will become a precious piece of his life.

Summary: Tow-truck driver and car enthusiast Zeke Darden is a connoisseur of well-tuned engines and well-turned asses ~ and a late-night call to rescue a classic beauty turns into an introduction that just might lead to the enjoyment of both.

I have no clue why. LOL. Really I don’t. One minute it’s a lazy Sunday afternoon and I’m hard at work on my latest, the next I’m bundled into the passenger seat of the truck and we’re driving up 1-75 heading North once again. It could have been the fact the day started with seeing a flying wing aircraft up in the sky. Seriously. Can’t tell you which one or why – but it gave the day a certain auspicious feel that we just had to exploit.

We’ve been tantalizing you for a few weeks with promo. You have been tantalized, right? Starting August 18th and continuing the 3rd Wednesday of every month Clare and Chrissy are hooking up and sharing with our readers. Why, you may ask? Well, it’s something we decided to do just in case there wasn’t enough stress in our daily lives. You know how it goes, one minute we’re chatting away, enjoying our caffeine buzz – the next a blog is born. That’s right, let’s add yet another obligation to the pressures of work, writing, family, and any other responsibilities (mental or physical, real or imagined) we carry in our already over-burdened schedules. “mwahahaha*
Hmmm, that sounds rather ominous, doesn’t it? Not quite the festive mood we are going for. Perhaps it’s time to introduce ourselves. She’s Clare London *points*, read all about her at her blog here and her website here … and I’m Chrissy Munder. You’ve found your way here to my blog, but I’m also available online at my website. Feel free to click on the alluring links. There you may read our bios, backlists, free reads, and all the where-to-find-us-and-friend-us links you could ever hope for.
In a more serious nutshell, we are authors who met somewhere out on the web sometime in 2007. We’d like to be able to tell you some wonderful story about how and when we first connected online, but neither of us can really remember that first, momentous event. We just sort of immediately melded into this rather scary (according to our significant others), separated-by-birth and nationality hive mind that has brought us hours of enjoyable conversation, and it’s that connection we want to share.
(Resistance is futile…)
Curious as to just how much fun two, over-stretched authors can be? Well, if you’ve not come across us in action before, check out some prior examples of our mad, blogging skillz here at Authors By Authors where we spent a week chatting. Clare has a deep-throated, erh seated love of men and metal machinery that lucky for her; she has been able to share with the males of her family. While Chrissy just can’t seem to get over her abiding need to watch the beginning of every horrible science fiction movie ever made because “that’s the best part”. Her family begs to differ.
What can you expect from us? Right from the start let’s stress there’s nothing too serious going on here. We are all about our own amusement and opinions that we don’t necessarily expect everyone to share. But that’s no reason to get your tail in a twist and decide you need to bring on the wrath. Save it for someone without a delete button. There are more than enough places across the web to feed the blogsphere’s demand for drama.
In an effort to keep this endeavor reasonable and FUN for both of us, we’ll be posting on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
Mark your calendars!
We’ll be chatting about whatever strikes us. The topic may be our writing, our family, travels or our favorite mixed drink; basically anything that has caught our fancy that month. We plan on alternating our posting location. One month the main post will be on Clare’s blog, the next it will be on Chrissy’s. But we’ll be sure to set up follow-me links so you don’t have to worry about whose month it is.
We’ll have SWAG giveaways for those that can’t live without their Clare or Chrissy bookmarks and glittery pens and pencils. We’ll have FREE eBooks. The main thing we will have is fun.

In keeping with yesterday’s travel the Straits post I felt it only fair to post an excerpt from my short, Bridge of Dreams.
Summary: It took a special kind of man to work the tall iron on the Straits of Mackinac Bridge crew. Construction foreman Daniel Morris expected his new “tall walker” to be a brave man – but Phillip Sands proved just as courageous in matters of the heart. Danger and possible sabotage lead to an incident that could claim Daniel’s life – or convince him to believe in his dreams again.
