Time for another excerpt! This week I’m posting a clip from one of my favorite stories. Brush with Desire features a character I often wish to come back and write a sequel for. No, it’s not Brian or Dale, fun as they are. It’s Dwayne, Brian’s overly bonded cat. You never know, Dwayne may get another day in the spotlight.
Summary: After a grueling day at work, Brian’s only looking forward to heading home to his cat when he stops at an all-night mega-store for a few groceries. The man he meets in the hair-care aisle wasn’t on his shopping list, but after their first encounter, Brian suspects he’s going to become a necessity. Rated a *Wet Dream*

Excerpt Thursday rolls around again! Despite my thoughts to the contrary I’ve made great strides in crossing items off the never-ending list – but at the sake of almost everything and everyone else! Let me take a few minutes to relax and post an excerpt from Promise of the Heart my second contribution to the Dreamspinner To Have and To Hold collection.
Summary: Jacob agrees to fill in as a wedding photographer for a friend, never expecting to come face to face with a ghost from the past: Alan, the man he loved and lost through his unchecked ambition. Will Jacob get a second chance to keep the promise he made in his heart?

A quick and early excerpt this morning as the world is pulling me in multiple directions. Here’s a look at a more recent release, Spontaneous available in the Curious Anthology from Dreamspinner Press. This is another antho with a fantastic cover.
Summary: Michael Vincent didn’t know what to call it when his now ex-boyfriend, Derek, called him boring and predictable and took off leaving Michael with a week off work and his vacation plans in shambles. Rather than sitting around moping, he decides to prove Derek wrong and show him that Michael can do spontaneous as well as the next guy. Unfortunately, Michael’s newly changed plans have definitely gone awry. At least until he spies construction worker Eben Bowman from the bed and breakfast’s window. Suddenly, being spontaneous isn’t all that hard when Michael is given the right incentive.

We interrupt our normally scheduled Chrissy for some exciting news fresh from the Dreamspinner Press Blog:
Dreamspinner Press is celebrating because we’ve signed our 200th author! And because we like to share our joy around, we’ve designed a trivia contest for our readers.
Each day for the rest of September, Dreamspinner Press will post a trivia question or quote from one of our authors’ bios for you, our readers, to go searching for. If you find the author in question, email your answer to ariel at dreamspinnerpress dot com. At the end of each day, Ariel will draw a name at random from all the correct entries and the winner will receive an eBook copy of their choice of any title by the featured author.
Authors have been selected randomly from all authors that meet the following three criteria:
1) Authors must have at least three titles published through Dreamspinner Press.
2) Authors must have at least one title published in 2010.
3) Authors must have at least one title that isn’t part of an anthology or collection of stories.
Interested? Visit the Dreamspinner Press Blog each day in September for a new question, and a new chance to win.

Do you love the absolutely breathtaking cover Mara McKennen created for After the Storm as much as I do? If so, I’m pleased to say that the cover is in the running for the Rainbow Awards Cover Contest.

This is only round 3, with plenty of voting still ahead, but I wanted to take a moment and appreciate Mara and all the other cover artists who work so hard to make us authors look so good.

Another week, time for another excerpt. This story is another one I’m quite fond of. Inspired by real life as such stories often are.
Third Times the Charm in the Make Me a Match Anthology Volume One available from Dreamspinner Press, All RomanceEbooks and other fine retailers.
Color me stunned – This short story made the Well Read Books of the Year 2008 M/M Short Story.
Summary: John Turner went to the 24-hour Urgent Care center to get his employee Bobby some medical attention, not to scope out the doctors. But Nick Davros was awfully hard to ignore. So when Bobby’s cousin gets hurt at the construction site, John knows exactly where to go. Despite Bobby’s best matchmaking attempts, Nick doesn’t seem interested in John – until a calamitous event throws them together a third time.

Hurrying by with a quick excerpt from my short, Undiscovered Territory.
Summary: Little Miss Colburn’s music recital attracts both mommy and daddy, a man for whom music teacher Layne feels an immediate attraction. But three strikes – he’s married, he’s a father, and he’s straight – convince Layne that it’s never to be. Then Mr. Colburn calls about finding a new instructor for his daughter…
